Southern McLean Early Bird Recap

Miners start the season with a solid outing in Washburn at the Southern McLean Early Bird.
The Miners had their first two state qualifiers of the season with Malayah Williams in the Shot Put and Addison Schepp in the 100 meter hurdles. The team also had 58 new PR's (Personal Records) set for athletes during the meet.
The Miners overall as a team took 1st on the Girls side and 2nd on the Boys side. With the Girls having 9 event champions and the Boys having 2 event champions.
The Girls team had a strong showing on the track with athletes placing in almost every running event on the track. The girls got some great performances from Rylee Yantzer, Addison Schepp, the 4x100 relay, and the 4x200 relay team with all of them being event champs. The Miners got a big boost in the Field events with 5 girls making Long Jump finals, 7 girls making Javelin finals, and 4 girls making the Discus Finals. The Girls also had event champs in Shot Put, Javelin, High Jump, Pole Vault, and Triple Jump. The girls team scored in 17 of 19 events.
On the Boys side they had 2 event champs in Ray Lundstrom in Shot Put and Anthony Hallett in Discus. The Miner boys had a good showing in those two events with 5 making finals in Shot Put and 4 making finals in Discus. They Boys had 8 2nd place finishes on the day. The boys team scored in 10 of 18 events (No Triple Jump).

The Miners look to continue their success next week when they head to Bowman for their Early Bird meet on Thursday April 3rd.
